The Alexander Technique is a practical way to deal with poor habits of movement, attention and disposition that may limit our lives in multiple ways.

The ideas behind the Alexander Technique are essentially straightforward. However, as with many apparently simple things there is also great depth. Its principles are universal and they can help almost anyone to improve their functioning. The benefits can be enormous – not only physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

Lessons in the Alexander Technique open a way to pay better attention to the qualities with which you move through all parts of life. It can enhance the richness and lessen the stresses in everything you do.

Move with greater awareness - Movement is integral to our lives. Better awareness of the quality of our movement can enhance the quality of everything we experience and do.

Move with Greater Awareness

Enhance Performance - Better awareness can improve function and better functioning can enhance performance for athletes, musicians, dancers, actors etc - and for everyone else

Enhance Performance

Reduce Pain and Tension - Pain can be related to how we use ourselves. Better awareness can be a way to reduce pain and/or find ways to reduce its negative effects

 & Tension

Support Breathing - Alexander Technique can offer a way to release habits related to the essential movement of the breath.

Breathing

Build Confidence and Ease - Movement is meaning. Alexander Technique offers a way to free ourselves from the fixed, habitual movement patterns which may limit our expression and engagement

Build Confidence & Ease

Support Ageing and Recovery - As we age our habits of movement, which we have practiced over a lifetime, tend to get stronger. Alexander Technique can offer a way to expand our movement range rather than just accepting that it narrows. Better, more detailed awareness of the quality of our attention to the world and the way we move through it can help recovery from illness and injury no matter your age.

Support Ageing & Recovery

Improve Posture/Poise - It is great to have good physical organisation but the term "posture" can feel a bit too static. Good posture is always in motion so maybe a better word is "poise". Alexander Technique supports "poise".

Improve
Posture/Poise

Feel Better in Everyday Life - Unfixing habits of attention and becoming more aware of the movements we do and the movement that happens to and through us can bring us closer to the life we are living, enhancing appreciation, pleasure and an openness to new pathways as they become available.
